         Singularity and regularity for inviscid fluid equations

        Abstract :

        In the first part of this talk, I will discuss the patch dynamics of the modified SQG equation, which interpolate between the 2D Euler equation and the surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) equation. I will present the proofs for local regularity and finite-time singularity on the half-plane (joint work with A.Kiselev, L.Ryzhik, A.Zlatos). In the second part, I will review some 1D model equations for fluid equations, and discuss some blow-up results of a 1D model for 3D axisymmetric Euler equations (joint work with K. Choi, T. Y. Hou, A. Kiselev, G. Luo, V. Sverak).
